Log Files

The REDDOXX Appliance creates a log file for each day.
These log files are displayed in the list view from the menu tree Logs.
They have the following file name format: Appliance-yyyy-mm-dd, where yyyy=year, mm=month, dd=day.

  • Individual protocols in the overview can be downloaded via the "Download" button in order to evaluate the protocol.
  • It is also possible to delete protocols.
  • It is advisable to set a log retention time via the "Settings" button in order to avoid unnecessarily occupying memory on the appliance.
Select here whether the log files are to be written to a storage (before they are deleted) and whether the log files are to be compressed as a .zip on the target system.
(Depending on the purpose, it may be desired to back up the uncompressed log files in order to then carry out an automated script-based evaluation on other systems).
A configured backup is necessary for the backup before deletion.

Using the filter options in the right-hand view, you can search precisely for log entries within the selected time period and then display them (Show) or download them directly.
This is particularly helpful if log files are requested by support for later evaluation.

The following procedure is recommended:

  1. Select an approximate time period for filtering in which, for example, an e-mail was not processed correctly.
  2. Select only SMTP Receiver for Service, this is the process that receives e-mails and provides them with a message ID.
  3. Click on Show and search for the desired message in the log.
  4. If you have identified the email you are looking for via the information Recv: "MAIL FROM:" and Recv: "RCPT TO:"..., you will find the corresponding entry Message received ("Inbound") and stored id ..... a few lines below.
  5. In the mentioned line, right-click on Copy message id.
  6. Paste the copied message ID in the filter on the right side in the corresponding field "Message ID" via Ctrl+V and remove the SMTP Receiver from the Services filter.
  7. Now click on Download

You will then receive a log extract filtered on the message ID which contains all processes concerning the e-mail in the corresponding order and can then be evaluated by you or the support team in case of questions and problems.

From 2034 SP2, you can also work with a full text search (e.g. search for an e-mail address) in the search field.
